Frances Marie V. Clark, 94, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died December 23, 2016 at Gothenburg Health in Gothenburg, NE.


Frances Marie Vobejda was born October 13, 1922 to Robert and Lydia (Stefek) Vobejda in Hettinger, North Dakota. She lived with her parents and brothers, Bill, George, Harvey and Vernon in Lodgepole, South Dakota.

She attended a country grade school near Lodgepole and graduated from Hettinger High School in 1940.  She attended Black Hills Teacher’s College in Spearfish S.D. and taught school in Phillip, SD and Brentford, SD and was so pleased that so many of her family have followed in her footsteps.

Frances married Roger Robert Clark on September 10, 1946 at Denver, Colorado.  To this union were born their six children: Carol, Alan, Bruce, Dennis, David and Jim.

Frances and Roger farmed twelve miles southwest of Gothenburg since 1946. Family was extremely important to Frances. She attended 50 years of Gothenburg student activities for her children and grandchildren. She also was an avid Husker fan.

She was a loyal member of Union Aid and VFW.

Frances is survived by her children: Carol (Joseph) Adams of Lincoln NE, Alan (Cecily) of Cozad, Bruce (Joyce) of Gothenburg, Dennis (Mary Lou) of Gothenburg, David (Deb) of Gothenburg, Jim (Mary) of Gothenburg, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three brothers George Vobejda of Overland Park, KS, Harvey (Darlene) Vobejda of Grand Rapids, MN, Vernon (Jarla) Vobejda of Colorado Springs, CO, brotherin-law Glen Weiss of Greeley, CO, sister-in-law Ardith Clark of Brady and many nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Roger, her parents, infant son Douglas Jay, grandson Jason Douglas, her brother William (Bill) Vobejda, sisters-in-law Betty Weiss, Betty Lou Clark, Virginia Vobejda and Gloria Vobejda and brothers-in-law Dale Clark and Van Clark.

Visitation will be held at American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg, NE; Wednesday, December 28, 2016, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg, NE; Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 2:30 pm with Lonna Grabenstein, PMA officiating.

Burial will follow in the Peckham Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.

Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, 1020 Lake Ave, PO Box 194, Gothenburg, NE 69138.
