Eugene Hecox
February 15, 1915 — September 19, 2006
Eugene graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1933. On June 8, 1939 he married June Belle Haynes . They farmed and ranched on the family farm for over 70 years. Gene's passion was working with shorthorn cattle, which he did for 85 years. He was active in the state Shorthorn Association for many years as well as judging many shorthorn shows. Eugene was a member of the Platte Valley Masonic Lodge #32 A.F. & A.M. as well as the Gothenburg Lion's Club.
Survivors includes his Wife: June Hecox of Gothenburg. Two Sons: Jerry (Bev) Hecox of Beatrice, NE and Jack (Nora) Hecox of Dorchester, NE. 3 Grandchildren:
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Richard.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at the Banner United Methodist Church, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Rev. Randy Dilts officiating. Burial will be in the Peckham Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.
