Esther Seanor

Esther Marie Seanor, 92, of Gothenburg, NE died April 26, 2023 at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.

She was born September 13, 1930 in Otis, CO, daughter of Aurther and Lodema (Fuller) Gilder.

She attended Cornerstone Bible Church. Besides teaching Esther was an interpreter for the Deaf, taught Sunday School, MOPS, AWANA leader, and a Child Evangelist since 1950. 

After graduating from Delta High School, Esther married George Seanor in December 14, 1949. Once she graduated from Mesa State College, the couple moved to Longview, TX; where they were blessed with two sons, Mel and LeRoy. The family moved back to Colorado where Esther continued to teach and spent 14 years at the US Air Force Academy Elementary School. In 1963 she earned her Masters in Deaf Education, later on she also obtained endorsements in Blind Education from UNL. She was hired as a preschool consultant at the Children's Diagnostic Center in Cozad in 1978, and was able to help in setting up the first preschool for the state. Esther put her teaching experience to good use by teaching classes at UNK, and North Platte Community College. She spent two terms as Commissioner for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, appointed by the Governor. She loved to travel and read. She was a volunteer at Liberty Heights Christian School where she subbed and taught Bible.

Survivors include son, Melvin "Mel" (Mary) Seanor of North Platte, NE; grandson, Scott Seanor and great-grandson, Logan Scott Seanor and step-grandson Dennis (June) Felch.

Esther was preceded in death her husband, George, parents, Aurther and Lodema Gilder, five brothers, Oren,Clare, Elmer, Harold, Robert "Bob" Gilder, sister, Beulah Alexander, son, Leroy Seanor.

Visitation will take place one hour before the service.

Services will be held at Cornerstone Bible Church, May 3, 2023 at 10:30 am with Pastor Scott Newman officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Billy Graham Association.
