Elsie Stubbs

Elsie Eufemia Stubbs, 90, of Gothenburg, NE, died October 26, 2016 at her home in Gothenburg with her daughter by her side.

Elsie was born April 11, 1926 in Kearney, NE, daughter of Carl and Ellen (Johonsson) Berglund both Swedish Immigrants.

Elsie grew up at Kearney, NE and lived there until she was 13. She then moved to Chicago, IL and graduated from Lake View High.  Later, she lived at Zurich, Long Beach, Hesperia, CA before settling in Gothenburg, NE.  She owned an Antique Shop for 43 years. She was a member of the PTA, Church Choir, and the National Appraisers Association. Elsie was a very energetic person with a wide variety of interests.  She enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, movie stars, Swedish Heritage especially Christmas where they indulged in Swedish delicacies, travel, interior decorating, politics, TV, church programs, chatting with friends, bird watching and squirrels.

Surviving are daughter, Judy Stubbs of Gothenburg, NE, son, Randy Stubbs of Maxwell, NE, daughter, Karen Graham of Seal Beach, CA, seven grandchildren: Christopher (Megan), Rebecca, Rachel, Kayden, Mattea, Stephanie, and Curtis; one great grandchild Liam; nephew Richard (Mary) Krueger and Niece Roberta (Joe) Moore.

Elsie was preceded in death by her father, Carl Berglund; mother, Ellen Berglund; four sisters, Sofia Berglund, Ruth Berglund, Astrid Hamilton and Gertrude Krueger; ex-husband, Ray Stubbs;

Memorial Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, November 4, 2016 at 12:00 pm.
