Eldon Eugene Brittenham, 81, of Moorefield/Brady, died September 23, 2014 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

He was born May 1, 1933 in Maxwell, NE, son of Jake and Mildred (Heath) Brittenham. Eldon went to Jeffery Queen School and graduated from Maxwell High, class of 1951.

Eldon served his country in the US Army from 1953-1955. After his honorable discharge, he worked for L.A. Kelley (owner of the North Platte Telegraph) on his farm. Eldon married Shirley Johnson on December 31, 1953 to this union three sons were born: Dale Lee, Ricky Wayne and Lynn Wade. The family moved to Cozad, NE in 1963 where he worked for the alfalfa mill until it closed in 1973. Eldon then bought out his father's cows and land and began to manage the family homestead. Eldon also worked for Lincoln County, operating a maintainer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Brittenham, three sons, Dale (Vivian) Brittenham of Lincoln, Rick (Cathy) Brittenham of North Platte, NE, Lynn (Missy) Brittenham of Moorefield, NE; six grandsons, Jeff (Becky) Brittenham, Erik Brittenham, Evan (Beth) Brittenham, Seth (Amanda) Brittenham, Austin (Lonna) Brittenham, Jacob Brittenham; three granddaughters, Leslie (Michael) Brestel, Becka (Jaryd Cabriles) Brittenham, Holly Brittenham; two great grandsons Cameron and Nathan; sisters-in-law Maxine Brittenham of North Platte and LaVonne Rowson of Fulton, MO.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents Jake and Mildred Brittenham, two brothers, Wayne (Darlene) and Floyd Brittenham, sister Edith (Ralph) Johnston.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, September 25, 2014, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5-7.

Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Friday, September 26, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
