Elaine E. Helmuth

Elaine E. Helmuth, 87 of Gothenburg NE passed away Monday January 8, 2024 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney NE.

Elaine was born April 15, 1936 to Harry and Alice Gruver. She spent many years driving grain trucks for Gene Johnson Trucking and  then  20 years with Consolidated FreightWays driving double and triple trailers across the US. She retired from CF in 1998.  She earned a rare Million Miler award, recognizing a significant driving accomplishment of more than 1,000,000 safe miles between March 1, 1979 and April 1,1992. 

She is survived by her six daughters: Jean Smith, Gail Fisher, Brenda Marsh, Kelly Mandel, Julie Fisher and Crystal Hood, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren as well as extended family and friends.  (Tons of fur grand babies). She enjoyed her friends at Pete’s Lounge and Bar W, including Tina, Chico, Norseen, Roxie and Lamoine as well as her annual Thanksgiving Bloody Marys at Regis Swanson, and later Scott and Jackie France, as well as her weekly visits with Kay, Kelly and Sandy. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and Paul Helmuth.  

Memorial services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, January 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Robert Litzenberger officiating.
