Doris Phillips

October 29, 1915 — September 13, 2006

Doris V. Phillips, 90, of Cambridge, Ne, formerly of Curtis, NE, died on September 12, 2006 at the Cambridge Manor. She was born on October 29, 1915 to William é�a��A"Billé�a��? F. and Lula E. (Wills) Linnemeyer.


Doris grew up in Curtis and graduated high school from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis. After Normal School Training in Kearney, NE, she taught rural school in the Curtis and Maywood areas.


Doris and Bernard E. Phillips were united in marriage on January 28, 1940 in Elwood, NE. After a few years in Calif. Bernard and Doris returned to Curtis where they could be near family and friends. At the time of her retirement she was employed by the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service in Curtis. After the death of her husband, she moved to the Heritage Plaza Retirement Village in Cambridge. She loved visiting with friends and family and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and board games with her friends at the Plaza.


Doris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jade é�a��A"Bernieé�a��? Phillips and and wife Evelyn of Beaver City, NE. One brother Dick (Jean) Linnemeyer of McCook. One sister-in-law Mary Nell of Dannebrog, NE. Three grandchildren Brian of Omaha; Kristene é�a��A"Treneé�a��? and husband Alan Garey of Curtis and Terri (Todd) Schirmer of Kearney, NE. Five great-grandchildren; Kelcey, Riley, Regan and Kellan Garey and Madison Schirmer.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard, two sisters Veda Saeger and Leona Nichols and one brother Lewis.


Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Curtis, NE, with Rev. Kevin Burkhardt officiating. Inurnment will be in the Curtis Cemetery.


Memorials may be given to the Medicine Valley Educational Foundation.
