Dolores Stevens

Dolores R. Stevens, 73, of Brady, Nebraska, died August 28, 2015 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE.

Dolores was born February 15, 1942 in Grand Island, NE, to Roy Henry and Dorothy H. (Johnson) Schroeder.  She grew up in Shelton, NE and graduated from Shelton High School.  Following graduation she attended Kearney State College where she earned her degree in Elementary Education.  She taught school in Gothenburg from 1962 until 1968 and in Brady from 1975 until 1996.

Dolores married Dale Stevens on June 7, 1964 at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg.  To this union two children were born - Matthew and Mark.  Dale and Dolores made their home in Gothenburg and later in the Wild Horse Valley and Brady area.

Dolores enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, recording family history, decorating and re-decorating.  She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, the Church Quilting Club and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her loving husband Dale R. Stevens of Brady; two sons Matthew Dale Stevens and wife Jennifer of Omaha and Mark Christian Stevens and his wife Stacey of Chandler, AZ; two grandchildren Allyson Taylor and Regan Christine Stevens both of Chandler, AZ; one brother Eugene Schroeder and his wife Janet of Lewellen; nephew Tyson Schroeder and his wife Kerri of Ogallala and niece Katie and her husband Riggin Epp of Lisco; along with many other family and friends.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Dorothy.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, August 30, 2015, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. with the family present from 2:00-4:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, August 31, 2015 at 10:30 am with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
