Diann Otterstad

Diann Kay Otterstad, 67, of Willow Island, Nebraska, died May 10, 2015 at her home in Willow Island, NE.

She was born November 23, 1947 in Osage, Iowa, daughter of George and Zada Erickson (Baker) Wirtjes.
She grew up west of Osage, IA and attended grade school in Nora Springs, IA. In 1961 she moved to Mesa, AZ and returned to Osage in 1965. Diann  graduated from Osage High School in 1966.  She married Jerry Allen Otterstad on August 28, 1966 at Elk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Kensett, IA.  To this union three children were born Tammy, Travis and Tarah.  They farmed and fed cattle in Joice, IA until they purchased a feedlot near Cozad, NE in 1971.

Diann enjoyed Interior Design, sewing and loved reading.  Her first love was her family.


She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Willow Island, NE; Son Travis and wife Jill of Tuttle, OK; two daughters Tammy and husband Joe Martinez of Tampa, FL; and Tarah Otterstad of Willow Island;  three Grandsons Zachary, Jared, and Justin Martinez of Tampa, FL; one step granddaughter Tiffani Pruitt of Tuttle, OK; one sister Shirley and husband Jon Ell of San Tan Valley, AZ; four brothers Marvin and wife Gail Wirtjes Albia, IA,  Delbert and wife Linda Wirtjes of Sheffield, IA; Vern and wife Karen Wirtjes and Dean and wife Gwana Wirtjes all of Hampton, IA; and Special Friend Diane Gohl of McCook, NE.

Diann was preceded in death by her parents, George Wirtjes and Zada and her husband Bernard Erickson and her in-laws Ida and Norris Otterstad.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, May 12, 2015, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present.

Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 3:00 pm with Pastor James McCrickard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Cozad Cemetery, Cozad, NE.

Memorials may be given to the Central Plain Hospice.
