Dean Peterson

P. Dean  Peterson, 79, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died November 12, 2017 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE of acute pancreatitis.

He was born July 25, 1938 in Gothenburg, NE, son of P. Raymond and Clara Peterson.  He grew up on the family farm and attended school at New Hope.  He graduated from Gothenburg High with the class of 1957.  Dean married Aleda Abbott on August 7, 1960 at Cozad, NE and they made their home on the farm north of Gothenburg.  Dean and Aleda had five children - Kay, Karen, Kim, Kelly and Mark.  Dean was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and Well Drillers Association.

Dean owned and operated Peterson Well Drilling for 56 years; working along side his son, brother and nephew.   Working was his passion and he enjoyed his customers.  He also took pride in farming and ranching on the X-9 Family Farm.  He loved to hunt and to be with his grandkids.

Surviving are son, Mark (Susan) Peterson of Gothenburg, NE; two daughters, Kay (Dan) Catlin of Kearney, NE, Karen (Dave) Bardwick of Missoula, MT; six grandkids - Abby, Chad and Derrick Bardwick of Missoula, MT; Seth Catlin of Kearney, NE; Tyler and Kayla Peterson of Gothenburg, NE; brother Jerry (Sherri) Peterson of Gothenburg, NE; sister Deanna (Terry) Cox of Arlington, TX; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Aleda; two sons, Kim and Kelly Peterson; sister-in-law Luetta Peterson.

Visitation will be held at Evangelical Free Church, Gothenburg, NE; Thursday, November 16, 2017, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family 5:00-7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Evangelical Free Church, Friday, November 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Scott Newman and Pastor Robert Litzenberger officiating.

Burial will take place in the New Hope Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.
