Claude Donald Slack, 80, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died June 26, 2019 in Gothenburg, NE.
He was born October 12, 1938 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Kenneth Donald and Eva (Couture) Slack. Claude grew up at Gothenburg and attended Gothenburg schools. He served his country in the Air Force from January 1956 to March 1958. Claude married Judy Johnson on February 20, 1969 at Fort Collins, CO. He worked for Poudre Valley Creamery in Fort Collins and moved to Gothenburg in 2000 where he worked for NAPA and Carquest until his retirement. Claude and Judy celebrated 50 years of marriage on February 20, 2019.
Claude enjoyed the world of racing; he raced stock cars and participated in lawn mower racing and spent many hours watching NASCAR. He was an avid sports fan of Nebraska Athletics as well as the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Avalanche. He enjoyed spending time relaxing in the boat fishing. Claude cherished time spent with his family and those he loved. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife Judy Slack of Gothenburg; three daughters, Cindy Williams, Melodi Rogers, Kendra Aaron; 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and seven great - great grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Pat) Slack of Windsor, CO; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Claude was preceded in death his parents Kenneth and Eva; son, Mark Slack, and daughter, Pam Slack.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, July 1, 2019, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. with the family present from 5:00 - 6:00.
Funeral services will be held at American Lutheran Church, 1512 Ave, Gothenburg, NE, Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 10:30 am with Lonna Grabenstein PMA officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
