Carl H. Schmeeckle, 85, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away on October 1, 2018 at Gothenburg Health in Gothenburg, NE.
Carl was born on January 19, 1933 in Cozad, NE to Clarence and Marcia (Fleharty) Schmeeckle. He graduated from Cozad High School. His career as a land leveler was his passion. Carl had a vision for shaping the land to meet his clients needs. He built Schmeeckle Land Leveling into a successful business that he enjoyed for over 50 years.
Carl married Fay June Ostendorf on May 2, 1970. Carl is survived by his wife and his six children - Cindy (Randy) Schneider, Connie (Rod) Diaz; Pam (Ron) Jacobson, Michael (Sara) Schmeeckle, Monica (Jeff) Miers and Marcy (Frank) Mass. He was loved by his 13 grandchildren - Jason (Jennifer) Schneider, Ryan (Tiffany) Schneider, Jennifer (Jeff) Howerter, Josh Loibl, Ian (Morgan) Schmeeckle, Taylor Schmeeckle, Zach Schmeeckle, Brittany McManus, Hannah McManus, Bridger Miers, Grayson Miers, Kylie Mass and Samantha Mass. His 10 great grandchildren also loved him - Samantha (Connor) Smith, Alyssa Schneider, Gracie Schneider, Trevor Schneider, Syndey Howerter, Emma Howerter, Addison Howerter, Dominick (Rachel) Loibl, Jakoby Loibl, and Nola Schmeeckle. He even had two great great grandchildren - Liam Loibl and Brantley Loibl. Also surviving is a brother Gary Schmeeckle and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Dale and Edwin Schmeeckle.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, October 4, 2018, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at Gothenburg Cemetery, Friday, October 5, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.
