Bonny (Kirstein) Dunphy, 74, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died April 11, 2017 in Gothenburg, NE.

She was born April 27, 1942 in Neligh, NE, daughter of Everett and Opal (Kraft) Kirstein at her grandparents home in Neligh, NE. The family lived at Neligh until moving to Gothenburg in 1958.  She graduated from Clarkson School of Nursing with her RN.  Bonny worked for many years as a Registered Nurse in hospitals and nursing homes throughout their travels.  She later worked as a phlebotomist for the Red Cross.  Bonny married Thomas Charles Dunphy on February 13, 1965 at Omaha, NE and became an Air Force Wife for the next 28 years.  They lived in Guam, Missouri, Hawaii, Illinois, Ohio, Germany, and California before returning to Gothenburg.  Bonny was a member of the Catholic Church.  Her hobbies included painting, crafts, knitting, crocheting, puzzles, and crossword puzzles.Bonny enjoyed attending auctions and going to garage sales. The most important of these was spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Thomas Dunphy of Gothenburg;  two sons, Thomas "Tommy" (Charity) Dunphy II of Gothenburg, NE, Darren (Karen) Knoell of Omaha, NE; daughter, Stephanie Rucker of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren - Jordan Rucker, Cameron Rucker, Avery Dunphy, Bethany Dunphy, Brogan Dunphy, Oliver Knoell, Chloe Knoell; two sisters, Janet Ostendorf of Gothenburg, NE, Alyce (Nick) Schaaf of Emmet, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and three aunts.

Bonny was preceded in death by her parents Everett & Opal Kirstein; two brothers-in-law, Brian Wagenaar and Richard Ostendorf.

Memorial Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 am with Father Michael Pampara officiating.
