Blanche Soderman

Blanche V. Soderman, 98, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 17, 2017 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

She was born November 16, 1918 in Brady, NE, daughter of Elmer and Alma (Elander) Sundquist. She grew up on the family farm north of Brady, NE.  She attended Kearney State Teachers College.  She taught school for two years before she married Floyd Soderman on May 23, 1943 at her parents home.  Floyd and Blanche had two children - Jean and Donald.  They lived in North Platte (1943-45); Denver (1946-47); Brady (1948-88) and Gothenburg (1989-2017). Blanche was a member of the Svea Dal Church and Ladies Aide.  She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.  She liked to do counted cross stitch, crochet, puzzles, cross word puzzles and reading.

Surviving are daughter, Jean Soderman of Gothenburg, son, Donald (Emily) Soderman of Alda, two granddaughters, Donelle Zapata of Gretna and Melinda (Jeremy) Benson of Georgetown,TX, seven great grandchildren, along with friends and extended family.

Blanche was preceded in death by husband, Floyd Soderman in 1999, her parents, sister, Pearl Anderson, infant brother, John.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-5:00 pm, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Evangelical Free Church, Gothenburg, NE with Pastor Scott Newman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.

Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church, 1721 Lake Avenue, Gothenburg, NE 69138.
