Beverly Lorene Jurgens, 83 of Curtis died January 9, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.
Bev was born on August 2, 1924 to John Francis and Violet (Halsey) McDermott in Lincoln Co, Nebraska. She grew up in Sommerset, Nebraska and attended grade schools north and south of North Platte. She went to High School in Curtis graduating from UNSA in 1942.
Bev married Glenn Jurgens on August 11, 1946 at Wellfleet, Nebraska. To this union four children were born Randy, Rod, John, and Pam. Bev stayed at home to raise her children, something she was very proud of.
Bev was active in the United Methodist Church of Curtis, a PEO chapter member for over 50 years, was a member of the ladies golf league in Curtis, the Curtis Little Theater, Tuesday Bridge Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Investment Club, the Art Club and the Easter Pageant. Bev enjoyed baking, needlework, sewing and crocheting. She was also an accomplished artist. The thing that Bev enjoyed the most was her family. She never missed an opportunity to tell someone who would listen how her children and grandchildren were doing.
Bev is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Glenn John Jurgens of Curtis, NE; two sons Randy and his wife Cheryl Jurgens of Lincoln, NE and Rod and his wife Jo Jurgens of Lamar, MO; a daughter Pam Jurgens of North Platte, NE; a brother Doug and his wife Alice McDermott of North Platte, NE; two sisters Betty and her husband Harry Whitner of Maryville, TN and Barb and her husband Dale Ness of Dent, MN; twelve grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a sisters-in-law Frances and her husband Marvin Greenwood of Wellfleet, NE and Shirley Jurgens of North Plate, NE; a brother-in-law George é�a��A"Porgeé�a��? and his wife Betty Jurgens of Curtis, NE; and a host of other family and friends.
Bev was preceded in death by her son John Chris Jurgens and a brother-in-law Chris Jurgens.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 3:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, Curtis, Nebraska, with Pastor Kevin Burkhardt officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Frontier Co. Ambulance, First United Methodist Church, or the Curtis Community Center.
