Betty McIntosh, 79, of Gothenburg died on January 3, 2008 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg.

Betty was born on February 12, 1928 to Gust Emil & Alice Irene (Floro) Viter at Gothenburg. She grew up in Gothenburg and attended Gothenburg High School. Betty was a homemaker and loved singing, baking and spoiling her grandchildren. She also was an avid reader.

She was united in marriage to Alfred DeFruiter and to this union was born 7 daughters: Linda, Cheryl, Donna, Roxie, Sandy, Karen, and Lana. Later in life she married Russ McIntosh and to this union was born a daughter, Shanna.

Betty is survived by her Daughters: Linda (Kenny) Gerdes of Cozad, Cheryl (Dale) Knoedler, Donna (Frank) Vandolah, Roxie Ritz (Tim Devine), Sandy (Jim) Sabotka, Karen (Randy) Derra, Lana DeFruiter (Dale), and Shanna (Tim) Keiser. 18 grand children; 22 great grand children. Brothers: Larry, Doug, Paul, Bobby, Junior, Dick and Cliff Viter; and a sister Kay Ensworth.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and 9 brothers and sisters; a grandchild Markie Rae Devine; a great grandchild Aydan Lee Defruiter.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2008, 10:00 am at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Larry Viter officiating. Burial will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Betty R. McIntosh Family, 620 Tenth Street, Gothenburg, NE 69138.
