Bertha Poen

Bertha Poen, 83, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died March 2, 2014 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

She was born May 18, 1930 in Taylor, NE, daughter of Homer and Altha (Wright) Dishman.

Bertha grew up in Taylor, NE and went to school in Gothenburg. She married William "Bill" Poen Jr in June 1948 in Ovid, CO; to this union 3 children were born - Larry, Roy and Alvin.

Bertha was involved in her church, she raised a good garden and a beautiful yard. She loved to bake bread.

Survivors include two sons - Alvin (Boni) Poen of Gothenburg, NE, Larry Poen of Emment, ID; 3 brothers - Harold Dishman of Laramie, WY, Al(Linda) Dishman of Gothenburg, NE,and David Dishman of Gothenburg, NE; sister - Lucy (Richard) Sabin of Cozad, NE; along with 9 grandchildren and many extended family and friends including great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband William Poen, Jr., son, Roy Dean Poen; parents; three brothers Virgil, Albert and Bill Dishman, four sisters, Irene Dubry, Marie Linblad, Violet Mladek, and Elsie Arnett.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, March 06, 2014 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Friday, March 7, 2014 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
