Bernie A. Larson, 71, of Gothenburg, NE, died August 13, 2006 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 5, 1935 to Paul W. and Martha Lindberg Larson in Gothenburg, NE. He graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1954. He loved sports and was very athletic in high school. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957.


On June 26, 1960 he married Jenelle L. Oman in Gothenburg. He worked at Monroe Auto Equip. in Cozad, NE from 1966 retiring in 1997. Bernie enjoyed Husker football, pheasant hunting, woodworking, collecting belt buckles, clocks, coins and enjoyed being with the coffee bunch twice a day. He raised exotic animals including miniature donkeys, llamas, and zebu.


Mr. Larson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gothenburg and served on several church committees and loved Sunday School and Prayer Group.


He is survived by his wife Jenelle Larson of Gothenburg,NE; one daughter Jill (Rob) Ostergard of Gothenburg, NE; two sons Pat Larson of Gothenburg, NE; Justin (Tara) Larson of Anthem, Ariz; six grandchildren Alexa, Stefen, Abby Ostergard and her son Dawson, and Tyler, Nate and Brock Larson; three sisters Kathryn Aden of Gothenburg,NE, Bel (Jim) Holmes of Gothenburg,NE, Barbara (Mervin) Titchen of North Platte, NE.


He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Raymond and Jim and niece Linda.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Gothenburg, NE with Pastors Tom Harris, Larry Viter and Mark Borchardt officiating. Burial is in the Gothenburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
