Bernadine Fecht

Bernadine Joy Rasmussen Fecht, 80, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Centennial Park Retirement Village, North Platte, Nebraska.

Bernadine was born January 28, 1935, at Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Clarence and Ruth (Slack) Rasmussen.  Bernadine spent her entire life in Gothenburg,  graduating from Gothenburg High School in 1953.

Bernadine worked for many years as a dietician at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital and Rural School District 100R.  She loved fussing over her kids and grandkids, baking cookies and playing card games with them.  Many games of Pinochle, Gin Rummy and Yatzee were played with her family and many friends.

On February 15, 1953, she married Don Bruce Fecht at the United Methodist Church in Gothenburg, NE.  Bernadine was a life long member of the United Methodist Church, belonging to the United Methodist Women's organization.

Bernadine is survived by her sons, Hal (Kendra) Fecht, and Tim Fecht, both of Gothenburg; daughter, Lori (Russ) Emken of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Jori (Charles) Jones of Bellevue, NE; Zachariah (Trenda) Fecht of Ashby, NE; Jacob (Julie) Fecht of Gothenburg, NE; Shannon Schwartz of Bennington, NE; Braxton (Taylor) Fecht of North Platte, NE; Elijah (Holly) Fecht of Elkhorn, IA; Zane Fecht of Omaha, NE; and Kolton Emken of Lincoln, NE; Great-Grandchildren: Taylor, Sydney, Hunter and Archer Jones of Bellevue, NE; Grady and Kyle Fecht of Ashby, NE; Gunnar and Beau Fecht of Gothenburg; Xavier, Taegan and Layla Schwartz of Bennington, NE; Henley Fecht of North Platte, NE; Azura, Quintin, Tehgynn, Uryiah, Khallon and Lotus Fecht of Elkhorn, IA; sisters-in-law, Corinne (Carol) Sappingfield, Betty Fecht, both of Gothenburg, NE, Bonnita (Dennis) Thompson of Fountain Hills, AZ, Lorene (Dan) Billington of Folkston, GA, and brother-in-law John Burrell Fecht of Yakima, WA.

Bernadine was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 2008, her parents, and brothers-in-law Keith Fecht, Harlan Ackerman and Mearl Wallace, and sister-in-law Marilyn Fecht.









Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, February 1, 2015, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. with the family present from 2-4.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, February 2, 2015 at 10:30 am with Pastor Joel Plisek officiating.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
