Benjamin Margritz

Benjamin Joseph (BJ) Margritz, 36, of Brady, Nebraska, passed away October 31, 2014 following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

He was born March 10, 1978 in Sutherland, NE.

Surviving are his wife, Ashly Ann Margritz, son, Kaden Margritz and daughter, Makenzie Margritz of Brady, NE, parents, Dale and Joyce Margritz of North Platte, NE brother, Mick (Janette) Margritz of Hershey, NE, sister, Stasi (Eric) Casida of California, nieces and nephews, Sam, Josh, Issac Margritz of Hershey, Tom and Elle Sones and Jackson Casida of California , Chase and Brynn Dangerfield of Colorado.

BJ grew up on the family farm south of Sutherland. He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1996. After high school B.J. proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years earning many awards including Airman of the year. BJ proudly served as Non Commissioned Officer in Charge for the Eglin and Nellis Air Force Base Honor Guards. After leaving the Air Force he was employed with Orthman Manufacturing and Nebraska Machinery Company. August 31, 2002 BJ married his best friend, Ashly. They celebrated 12 wonderful years together and were blessed their two beautiful children. BJ dearly loved his family, spending many hours on the lake at their home in Brady. He enjoyed farming, boating, 4 wheeling, his Jeep and spending time with family . BJ's hearty laugh and beautiful smile that could light up a room will be missed by all.


Closed casket visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska on Thursday, November 6, 2014, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2014, Bethel Evangelical Free Church, 2700 W Phillip Ave, North Platte, Nebraska.

Burial will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE with military honors.

Memorials may be given to the Kaden and Makenzie Margritz college fund c/o Gothenburg State Bank, 900 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE 69138.
