Alvin Junker, 88, of Cozad, Nebraska, died August 16, 2019 at Emerald Nursing home in Cozad.
He was born on the family farm north of Cozad on November 12, 1930, son of Rekus and Marie Junker.
Alvin worked as a farmer all of his life. Alvin married Ruth Hess on July 24, 1955 at the Farnam Methodist Church.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served on the church board for several years. He enjoyed working on farm, traveling, spending time with his family during holidays and birthdays, spending time with his dog Lily, watching football and western shows, and playing cards always brought him joy.
Surviving are son, Keith (Deb) Junker of Gothenburg, son, Rod Junker of Gothenburg, daughter, Karen (Mike) Oldfather of rural Lexington, brothers, Raymond (Carolyn) and Gerald Junker, brother-in-law Irvin (Ruth Ann) Hess, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren;, along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Ruth and his parents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2019 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, from 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM with the family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 10:30 am with Pastor Carol Mapa officiating.
Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church.
