Allen Rich

Allen Eugene Rich, 82, of Brady, Nebraska, died January 26, 2022 in Gothenburg.

He was born December 25, 1939 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Russell and Catherine (Lewis) Rich.

He grew up in Gothenburg, and attended Gothenburg High School graduating with the class of 1956.  He married Karen Elander on June 18, 1961 in Gothenburg.  To this union they had one son Barry and a daughter Libby. He worked as carpenter and later on as a farmhand for the Elander Homestead.  After the death of his wife, he worked for Kenny Kenning as a farmhand until his retirement.

Allen enjoyed reading anything he could get his hands on. He loved to attend anything his grandkids were associated with and loved spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite things to do was trucking with Barry when they were hauling hay.

Survivors include daughter, Libby (Craig) Franzen of Gothenburg, NE;  son, Barry (Carol) Rich of Brady, NE; brother, Kenneth Rich of Willamina, OR; grandchildren, Brandon (Alana) Rich of Brady, Katherine Rich of Brady, Derek (Alyssa) Franzen of Gothenburg, Karen Franzen of Fremont, and Emily (Kyle) Buckingham of Fremont; great grandchildren Emmett and Avery Rich of Brady, and Taya Franzen of Gothenburg.

Allen was preceded in death by wife, Karen Marie Rich, his parents Russell and Catherine Rich,  in laws, Boyd and Helen Marie Elander, grandson, Lane Franzen, two brothers; Robert Rich, Quentin Rich, sister, Shirley Scott.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, January 31, 2022, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Private graveside services will be held at the Gothenburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
