Sally Koertner

December 7, 1938 ~ September 16, 2019 (age 80)


Sally Koertner (significant other of Marlan Schmeeckle), 80, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 16, 2019 at Emerald Nursing and Rehab in Cozad, NE.  

Sally was born December 7, 1938 at Cowles, NE to George and Florence (Hurd) Hartman.  Sally was a hard worker and was willing to work at a variety of jobs including bartending, waitressing at several restaurants, and the dental office in Red Cloud.  She was the manager of Hotline Shoes in the North Platte Mall where she collected her many high healed shoes that she loved to wear when she and Marlan went out dancing.    Sally also worked for many years as a welder at Baldwin Filters.   She enjoyed playing Mexican Train Dominos with her friends and family.  She attended the American Lutheran Church at Cozad.    

Sally leaves behind her family including Marlan Schmeeckle of Gothenbug; Sandy Milroy of North Platte; Lorie Koertner of North Platte; Julie Stanton of Centennial, CO; Shayne Schmeeckle of Overland Park, KS;  Dawn Dee Lucchese of Long Beach, CA; Todd Schmeeckle of Lincoln, NE; sister Kathy Boyd of Denton, TX; sister Lila Lammers of Bladen, NE; grandchildren: Trevor (Becca) Milroy; Morgan (Travis) Walker; Jones Milroy; Anna, Emily, Alison Schmeeckle; Johnny Lucchese; Jayton, Madison, Michael, Amber, Asher, Jordan, Abbie Schmeeckle;  along with many extended family and friends. 

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings Joan Giger, Josephine Muhleisen, and Dean Hartman. 

Memorial Services will be held at Cozad American Lutheran Church, 200 E 12th St, Cozad, NE 69130, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 11:00 am.  

Memorials may be given to the family to be decided at later date.
