Pauline Edson

July 17, 1936 ~ October 6, 2018 (age 82)

Pauline Blanche Edson, 82, of Gothenburg, NE, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on October 6th, 2018 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.


Pauline was born on the family farm on July 17, 1936, to Mark Lloyd and Blanche (Jobe) Miller in Maxwell, NE. She spent her childhood helping with all of the family household chores with a large family of nine. Pauline looked forward to finishing her daily chores so she could have time to play with all of her dolls and care for her black and white Shetland pony. 


At age nine, Pauline joined 4-H where she achieved many awards. Later in high school, she met the love of her life, Richard. They met on a blind date at a youth group gathering hot dog roast in the Miller family canyons. After graduation, Richard and Pauline traveled to Julesburg, CO and were married on April 13, 1954. To this union, seven children were born. 


Pauline was a busy young mother and wife. She was a Sunday School teacher, vacation bible school teacher, Jr. High youth group leader, 4-H leader for 15 years and a UMW President for four years. Avon was a 20 year career, walking and delivering to her many customers in Gothenburg. 


She enjoyed baking cookies, rolls, and hosting large family dinners. She also had a gift for baking and decorating beautiful cakes for birthdays, graduations and weddings. 
Her family was her lifeline. Her husband Richard was her caregiver who was there for her unconditionally. Her children, grand children, and great grandchildren had a special place in her heart. 


Survivors include her husband Richard of Gothenburg, son, Dwight (Claire) Edson of Gothenburg, son, Ken Edson of Gothenburg, son, Rodney Edson of Fairbury,  daughter,  Linda (Bob) Miles of Bremerton, WA, son,  Bob (Lisa) Edson of Houston, TX, daughter, Sherri (Gregg) McMichael of Gothenburg, 16 grandchildren, Ellie, Megan, Isaac, Luke, Micah, Isaiah, Matthew, KiLee, Zachary, Ryan, Tiffany, Aaron, Branndon, Dillon, Jarred, and Eliott, 15 great-grandchildren, Bailea, Callie, Dawson, Adelyn, Brielle, Emmett, Scarlett, Jayden, Emree, Conagher, Wacey, Weston, Grayson, Nathan, and Brooks, brothers, Darold (Ilene) Miller, Delmar (Hazel) Miller both of North Platte and Loren (Mary Ellen) Miller of Cochrane, Alberta Canada, sister, Vernita (Joe) Yanken of Dublin, GA, and family friends Lynn Taylor and Ronda Edson along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 


She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Sheryl Sue Edson, step- mothers Nira (Davis) Miller and Martha Jane Miller, sister, Shirley Nuttal, brother Clinton Miller and nephew Eugene Geyer.


Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Services will be held at the Evangelical Free Church, Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 10:30 am with Pastor Ben Jones officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be designated to the family to be decided at a later time.
