Rosa Lucille Werkmeister, 89, of Maywood, Nebraska, died November 19, 2019, in North Platte, NE.
Lucille was born September 25, 1930 in Palisade, NE, daughter of John Leslie and Rosa Lena (Conboy) Large. When she was three years old, her mother passed away; lovingly, her Grandmother Ella Large helped raise her. She attended school in Hayes Center and graduated with the class of 1948. She taught school at the Valley county school for the 1948-49 school year.
Lucille married Melvin Fred Werkmeister on June 17, 1950; and they made their home at Maywood. She was a busy wife and mother raising their children - Alvin, Allan, Verneta and Julie. Lucille was creative and loved to sew, make quilts and do other crafts. She enjoyed reading. Her family was her pride and joy; she took pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are husband, Melvin Fred Werkmeister of Maywood; two sons, Alvin (Sina Jo) Werkmeister of Maywood, NE, Allan Werkmeister of Curtis, NE; two daughters, Verneta Werkmeister of Maywood, NE, Julie (Kevin) Werkmeister Johnson of Keensburg, CO; six grandchildren - Bobbi Werkmeister; Luke (Lisa) Werkmeister, Marc (Jessica) Werkmeister, Jayde (Gary) Koch, Christopher (Michelle) Werkmeister, Michael (Dani) Werkmeister, and 16 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Lois Bennett, of Niwot, CO; Arlene Werkmeister of Longmont, CO; Betty Werkmeister of Maywood, NE; Roberta Werkmeister, Palisade, NE; Pat Werkmeister (California); along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; brother- and sister-in law Leo and Jean Werkmeister, Max and Donna Werkmeister; brothers-in-law Ernest Werkmeister, Elgie Werkmeister, and Raymond Werkmeister; sister-in-law Darlene Werkmeister.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska; Sunday, November 24, 2019, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at Maywood Cemetery, November 25, 2019 at 11:00 am.
Memorials may be given to the Maywood Community Hall.
