Linda Y (Reyna) Coakley

October 5, 1954 ~ July 1, 2019 (age 64)

Linda Yvonne Coakley, 64, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died after a battle of cancer on July 1, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.  

She was born October 5, 1954 in Fort Worth, TX, daughter of Pete R and Shirley R (Rodriguez) Reyna.  

Linda grew up at Hurst, TX and went to school at York College, West Texas State College and University of Nebraska at Kearney. Linda earned two masters degrees and was on the Honor Roll when she attended UNK. She taught at UNK and ESL at Lexington High for 25 years.  She lived at Hereford, TX 1974-1981; Amarillo, TX 1981-1984; Garden City, KS 1984 -1990; Lexington, NE 1990 - 2008;  Gothenburg, NE 2008 to present. 

Linda married David Paul Coakley on June 22, 1974 at Tulia, TX and the couple had two boys - David and Shea.  They just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.  She loved to read, watch cooking shows, soaps and Fox News. The love of her life was her family, her grandchildren and her dog Scout.  

Surviving are husband, David Coakley, Sr. of Gothenburg, NE, son, David P Coakley, Jr. and friend Darcie Smith of Syracuse, NE; son Shea (Nikki) Coakley of Kearney, NE; three grandchildren Lexie, Mason, Landon; her dad Pete R (Sally) Reyna, Sr.; brother Pete (Elva) Reyna, Jr of Lubbock, TX; brother James (Ella Mae) Reyna of McClean, TX; brother Rueben Reyna and friend Sheri Wilson of Hurst,TX; along with many extended family and friends.   

Linda was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Reyna, brother Frank Reyna, aunt Nita Hayes.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, July 8, 2019, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm. with the family present from 4-6. 

Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 10:00 am.  

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery. 

Memorials may be given to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TX 38105.
